What’s new this season?
“We will be presenting best sellers such as our extremely competitively priced crepe back satin, alongside taffeta, crepe georgette, marocain, organza, douppion, habotai and velvet ranges.”
“We have expanded our collection of tulles to include a recycled polyester version, as well as qualities with zero, or low formaldehyde, in the finishing process.”
Pongees will showcase different silk variations and pairings this season at Textile Forum London: “This is an initiative to demonstrate how a plain silk can be transformed with an additional technique, such as an innovative screen print, delicate embroidery or dynamic pleating, to create a fabric that is even more luxurious and unique.”
Silk: A natural fibre
“Silk is inherently sustainable”, commented Pongees. “Many of Pongees’ silks are woven from silkworms, whose exclusive diet is the mulberry leaf. Mulberry trees are replanted and grown in soil, much like the cotton plant, which adds another layer of sustainability to the production of silk.”
