Focus on sustainability
Sustainability is a key topic for Stephen Walters, who is the first UK textile manufacturer to obtain the OEKO-TEX® STeP certification.
“Our focus regarding sustainability isn’t centred around one range or product, but is imbedded in the way we work, and everything we do. We are proud to be the first UK Textile Manufacturer to be awarded OEKO-TEX® STeP certification, which certifies the manufacturing process for environmentally friendly and socially responsible production. We achieved the highest level 3, which demonstrates ideal implementation of best practice.”
“On a more product focused level, we are constantly evolving our ranges to include yarns which reinforce our commitment to environmental and ethical values. We have introduced recycled lurex and polyester yarns, and our latest apparel collection features Responsible Wool Standard fibre. In addition, we weave to order, with low minimums, so we only produce what is required.”
